I learned so much in past year when I felt the real pain in my stomach.

Without further ado, please enjoy his wise words...

Sun, 29 Nov 2009 19:22:00 -0800 We'll see http://soeim.posterous.com/well-see-10 http://soeim.posterous.com/well-see-10

A farmer had only one horse. One day, his horse ran away.

All the neighbors came by saying, “I’m so sorry. This is such bad news. You must be so upset.” The man just said, “We’ll see.”

A few days later, his horse came back with twenty wild horses. The man and his son corraled all 21 horses.

All the neighbors came by saying, “Congratulations! This is such good news. You must be so happy!” The man just said, “We’ll see.”

One of the wild horses kicked the man’s only son, breaking both his legs.

All the neighbors came by saying, “I’m so sorry. This is such bad news. You must be so upset.” The man just said, “We’ll see.”

The country went to war, and every able-bodied young man was drafted to fight. The war was terrible and killed every young man, but the farmer’s son was spared, since his broken legs prevented him from being drafted.

All the neighbors came by saying, “Congratulations! This is such good news. You must be so happy!” The man just said, “We’ll see.”

A close friend of mine used to talk about it (in her personalized format). She told me at least twice. It stays in my memory well because of special situation I was going through.

In life, we dwell on options that come into our lives too much that we forgot to live.

Do live and we'll see.

Mon, 23 Nov 2009 18:15:00 -0800 Scratching an itch http://soeim.posterous.com/scratching-an-itch http://soeim.posterous.com/scratching-an-itch

It is a wise phrase that is attributed to the origin of great startups.

Project::raise is about scratching our own itch. My colleagues have been asking this and that, wishing this and that for a long time; the itch has become so intense to deserve a soothing scratch. The itch that has been waiting for 4 years to get the scratch. The itch that would make important part of development ecosystem better when scratched. The itch that I feel itchy about.

I couldn't find who has come up with the phrase. However, if you need further reading on correlation between scratching an itch and doing startup, read David Cohen's post.

Tue, 17 Nov 2009 23:29:20 -0800 First they came... http://soeim.posterous.com/first-they-came-3 http://soeim.posterous.com/first-they-came-3
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.

a popular poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984)

It seems simple but it exactly describes where apathy would lead to...

The poem is from Nazi era's genocide. And it depicts well of the cause of Khmer Rouge era's genocide; leading Cambodia back to Year Zero in 1975.

While, sympathy (and empathy) is the foundation of humanity, apathy is the cause of failure in humanity. And it is why we must speak up for the powerless.
